Most likely a Windows Update was performed and change some parameters in your computer that the Start Stop software got confused about.
Try the following:
Try Dragging and dropping a file directly onto the Start Stop software main window. (Open a folder containing any audio file. Put your mouse over top of the file, depress the left mouse button and drag it onto the top of the Start Stop Main Window, then release mouse button.) Close the file and try FILE>> Open again, should work now.
If you have problems doing above or it didn't work, try the following:
You can also click on the Jobs Manager button (Jobs with a yellow check mark next to it.) This will launch a excel like window with audio files listed in them. Select a file and click LOAD JOB. Close the Jobs window and file and try FILE >> OPEN.
